Winsor and Newton also carries lots of colors in their larger, 500ml tubes if you paint thickly, or paint very large works of art. These are very interesting paints, but perhaps not for the right reasons. Started by a painter based in Brooklyn in the 1980s, the company was bought by Golden in 2009, but the quality has remained high. Paint? The low price point is for a reason these are basic quality paints no matter what the label says. Transparency works well when you want to create something that looks like a very realistic stained glass window or a puddle of water, but isnt. They are both permanent and lightfast and both use the same quality pigment. They have a set of paints that matches your level (although you could attempt to paint with any of their artist oil paint sets to see what each level is like).
