Jesus knows that he will soon leave his followers behind. For you were bought at a price. In fact, if this were to take place today, that money would likely be worth less, due to inflation. But this parable is not really about stewarding money. On each side of the river is the tree of life producing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month of the year. wicked. Assuming this value for the sake of illustration, one servant in Jesuss parable received $3,000,000 (five talents), another received $1,200,000 (two talents), and another received $600,000 (one talent). 12 Therefore he said, A nobleman went to a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. (A talent is a term for money, worth over a thousand dollars today.) He demanded that they make something out of nothing, so to speak. The first presents his master with ten talents.
